Due Diligence

Knowledge is the key to understanding what actions management should take. Knowing what your competitors are doing and knowing where your company stands in the dynamic marketplace are key imperatives in the 21st century. Most companies think they know their own SWOTs, but are you really sure ? At RiskMentor.org we often deal with complex technical questions such as:

  • Why are we Losing Market Share ?
  • What Processes are my Competitors Using ?
  • How and Where do the Parallel Importers Get their Supplies ?
  • My Key Researcher/Strategist/Salesman Just Resigned, Who is He/She Working for ?
  • How Can my Competitor Sell at Such Low Prices ?
  • How Did My Competitor Develop His “Me-Too” Product to Market so Quickly ?

At RiskMentor.org we work within legal and ethical frameworks to provide the best research available and the best investigations wherever you need them. Investigators are thoroughly briefed on the technical issues and rehearsed so that all relevant leads are pursued. The results are presented graphically and with as much cultural and market information as you need to make a decision.

Business Intelligence Case Study 1 : A Transport and Logistics Company
The company was and is a leader in Asia but was experiencing heavy price discounting based competition from global competitors. The client presumed that the competitors had a lower cost base and wanted to know how they did it. The investigation revealed that the competitors had a higher cost bases but were “Loss-Leadering” in Asia, financed by robust revenues elsewhere.

Business Intelligence Case Study 2 : A Prosthetics Company
The company wanted to expand outside its home country and had identified a company in the same field with interesting technology but was refused a license only to be offered a JV. The investigation revealed that the “Technology” was not proprietary but licensed-in and hence could not be sub-licensed. The investigation also revealed another company with a better portfolio of patents in that same technology, the client was advised to approach the second company.

Business Intelligence Case Study 3 : A Database Company
A prominent supplier of databases of market relevant information was reviewing its Business Continuity Planning and needed to benchmark with competitors and clients. The investigator asked the help of each company without pretext but without revealing the identity of the client, they all cooperated. The strategy of industry players varied widely and the investigation revealed a willingness to “have the discussion” with the database supplier.
